Listen for the message, not a word list

Give your memory three anchors: who or what the sentence is about, what happens, and the place, time, or reason.

A student remembers a sentence as its subject, main action and final detail.
  • Find who or what the sentence is about.
  • Notice what happens.
  • Hold the place, time, or reason as the final part.
