Break a long sentence into small ideas
A meaning group is a few words that express one small idea. Holding three or four ideas is easier than holding every word alone.
Four groups
The student centre / will close at six / because the staff meeting / starts at six thirty.
Each slash marks the end of one small idea. It is not a long pause.
Make a short, natural pause between ideas. Do not pause after every word.
Keep the small details that change the meaning
One missing word can reverse the message or make it wrong. Protect negatives, numbers, names, times, and main verbs before you speak.

Why details matter
The café does not accept cash.
If you drop does not, the sentence means the opposite. Protect negatives, numbers, and names before you speak.
If you forget one word, keep going
Begin when the test tells you to speak. If you forget one word, pause briefly and continue with the next part you remember.
- Repeat the same words. Do not replace them with shorter ones.
- Do not restart the whole sentence because of one mistake.
- Speak at a steady pace so every important word is clear.

The pause is not ideal, but finishing the sentence is better than starting over and running out of time.
Compare every word, then fix one problem
After you speak, reveal the sentence and compare your recording word for word. Choose one problem and repeat the same item.

One correction pass
You said computer room, but the sentence says computer lab. Fix that one word on your next try.
Choose the biggest mismatch first. Fixing one accurate detail often improves the whole sentence.
Do not move to a longer sentence in the same scenario just because you finished. Move on when you can keep most words and the important details.

ETS reports Speaking on a 1–6 scale in half-point steps. Repeat tasks assess accuracy and clear speech. Interview tasks assess relevant, developed answers, language use, and delivery.
The repeat trainer is untimed. Use the simulations when you want timed responses.

Is the audio official TOEFL audio?
No. It uses a voice supplied by your browser, so the sound can vary between devices. Use ETS samples too.
What if the audio or microphone does not work?
Check your volume and browser permissions. If audio is unavailable, reveal the text and ask someone to read it. Without a microphone, speak aloud and use the review notes.
Does completed mean I am ready for the test?
No. It means you marked the activity or moved through it. Listen back, find one issue, and try again with your own answer.
Can I practise alone?
Yes. Listen, answer aloud, and compare your recording with the notes. A partner can also tell you which parts were hard to follow.
